I asked a learner sometime ago what she understood by the “environment”. She answered “our compound, road, plants and keeping them clean.”

From my work with children, I know this is what most of them know about the environment. Even some adults can’t say so much about the environment.

Learning from practical & simple natural processes enhance #learning. Sustainable #education should not just be within the classroom.
Aside talking to the learners about the everyday routine cleaning of their environment, teachers can also ask them these simple questions to prompt their thinking.

🌳What do you understand by the “environment”?
🌧What are those things that make up the environment?
🐘Do you think you have any business with your environment?
☀️What are those things your #environment does to you?
🌈What are your responsibilities toward the environment?

These questions can be adapted to fit the age & understanding of the learners. Simple practical exercises can then be given to the students on the lessons they can learn from their environment to groom environmentally-conscious learners who would be able to develop holistic solutions to global challenges.

I hope this helps us learn more about your environemnt!
